LOLA BLAU I SERIES

The series „Lola Blau” is based on the international musical phenomenon written by playwright Georg Kreisler. The musical series with it’s large ensemble, is set in the 1930s and follows the story of Lola Blau, a Jewish cabaret singer in Vienna, as she navigates the challenges and changes brought about by the rise of the Nazi regime.

The narrative of the series unfolds as Lola Blau recounts her life and experiences, combining elements of humor, romance, and tragedy. The series as well as the musical explores themes of identity, survival, and the impact of political and social upheaval on individuals through twenty extraordinary songs.

 

The character Lola Blau’s journey reflects the broader historical context of the time, including the persecution of Jews and the suppression of artistic expression under the Nazi regime.

Georg Kreisler, the creator of „Lola Blau,“ was a satirist and composer, known for his sharp and often dark humor. The musical series is a reflection of his own experiences as a Jewish artist during a tumultuous period in history.
